Classes:

The yoga we teach is traditional hot yoga style. The room is heated to approximately 106 degrees.  In this style of yoga we hold the postures for a certain amount of time focusing on balance and stillness.  The teacher stands in front of the room guiding and setting the pace of the class.

Our approach is base on a discipline practice aim to gain physical and mental discipline.

We offer slightly different classes based on a the classic 26 posture series:

Classic 26 : 90 Minute Classes (listed in White in the SCHEDULE):This class follows the Classic 26 posture series of Hot Yoga.  We do two sets of each posture with a short savasana in between postures. It is an excellent class to learn the postures and practice with intensity since you have enough resting time in between postures.  It’s great for beginners and advance students alike.

75 Minute Version of the Classic 26: (listed in light blue in the SCHEDULE)
This class is a shorter version of the 90 minute class.  Some postures are combined to shorten the class. These classes are offer at times when having an extra 15 minutes to shower or go home is very valuable. These are great classes because they keep a little faster pace.

BASE PRACTICEThis class is taught by studio owner Cristina Rey. The focus of this class in on the concept of a base practice (read more). BASE acronyms stands for putting emphasis on Balance Alignment Stillness and Energy.  Cristina branches out of the Classic 26 posture class adding additional hip openers, leg stretches and core work that are aim to open the flow of energy in our base or root chakra.   Our root chakra is the grounding force that keeps us feeling safe and connected with the earth energies.  All back issues, hip issues, issues around our knees are said to be connected to our root chakra. Cristina had studied the 26 postures for over 14 years. In her own practice she has study how the energy of the body is channel through the yoga postures.  Her focus in on the internal and mental aspects of the practice to allow an external freedom and manifestation.  Base practice incorporate almost all of the classic 26 postures and adds new postures that allow for a deeper level of connection to the base chakra and the elongation of the spine.  At the physical level it increases hip and leg flexibility.  The order of the postures is changed to support the principle of building a strong base practice where stillness, balance alignment and the release of energy is attained.  To learn more about Cristina’s background  click here.  Studens who have at least 20 classes with us are welcome to participate- No permission is require for this class.

The 8:30 am classes are 75 to 80 minute classes AND by permission only classes. These classes are for regular students that have been coming to our studio for at least a year.  We do not teach the class from the front. The teacher takes class with the students. The classes can vary to a very technical and guided approach to a very silent and “minimal talk” approach. Owners Cristina Rey (M/-/F) and Jason Ewing (T/TH) teach these classes.  (DURING  JUNE AND JULY of 2010 Cristina will be teaching M-F )

BE STRONGOwner Jason Ewing teaches this class.  Jason focus on strength and core work. His classes tend to be quieter than Cristina's and more strength base. (jason is out of town during June and July 2010).
