Hello prospective New Student, welcome to our website.
You might be asking yourself some questions about this yoga and our studio. Please don’t hesitate to email us about any questions or doubts you might be having. Either Jason or Cristina (owners) will be happy to email you back with answers.
Before we go further, know that this person that is typing here is me, Cristina, I am from Argentina and even though I’ve been in the US for over 20 years, I speak and write a little bit like Tarzan.
So. The first question we get is ‘do I have to be flexible,I've never taken yoga before..”
Our teacher use to say that the BEST student is the person that NEVER took yoga before and NEVER exercised a day in his or her life. :)
WHY?
Because this person doesn’t have any preconceived ideas of the yoga (therefore their mind tends to be more open and non-judgmental) and often their bodies are in better shape than those students who have been doing sports and end up with body injuries! (Ok, so it might be a little exaggerated…but its kind of true!)
Listen, yoga is for EVERYBODY. My mom came to yoga when she came to visit me once. She was 70 at the time. My mom is from Argentina and never really exercises very much. The woman likes the good life, a little coffee…a little this.. a lot of that. She came to class, did the whole class, checking everyone out like mom’s do…and didn’t really care about the yoga. But my point is, she stayed in the room the entire class, came out and thought it was not a big deal... at 70 years old!
So whatever age you are, whatever shape you are…just take it easy the first class. Come to check it out. Do a little bit, that's the best way to start and HAVE FUN WIHT IT. Don’t try to do everything right the first class…just allow yourself to connect with the experience. You will know after class if this is something for you or not. You will have that sense.
People who rush learning tend to learn with poor techniques. “In the process of learning, rushing is a waste of time”. So come to class…any class …(the only class that is advanced and you need permission is the 8:30 am class; all other classes are open to new students) and start there. Your first class is just that…it is not going to heal you magically. It’s your first step to a new life..that I can guarantee. If you like what we do, if it feels good and you can connect with it, stay with it... it is the best thing in the world. Hear it from other students. Either way, try it. We all need to exercise, it’s great for the mind, our sanity, the sanity of our family…and our body. Find what you love and stick with it. I hope it will transform your life the way it transform ours.
By the way...don't forget to check out the 7 Reasons for the heat...
